Visit to Rome by the International President Hyung Jin Nim and Yeon Ah Nim

On August 24th and 25th the Italian members received the Unification Church World President, Hyung Jin Nim and his wife Yeon Ah Nim. Together with them was Mrs. Choi, vice-president of the WFWP, Dr. Seuk Vice President of the Unification Church, Pres. Song Yong Cheol and his wife, continental director of the European continent, Dr. Thomas Walsh and Taj Hamad of the UPF International and six other brothers, accompanying them. The whole Italian family was so greatful to welcome Hyung Jin Nim, Yeon Ah Nim and elder sister Yeon Ah Nim to Italy. Europe has been waiting for their visit for a long time. Finally the day has arrived. We really felt that True Parents’ was visiting us.

Right after their arrival, Hyung Jin Nim and Yeon Ah Nim visited and prayed at the Holy Ground at the Vatican main square which True Parents had established in August 20th, 1965. The main program was a meeting with members that was held in a Catholic Center called “Better World." Dr. Seuk opened the event with a speech to testify about Hyung Jin Nim’s Cheong Seong. After a video presentation, the continental director Rev. Yong Cheol Song introduced Hyung Jin Nim to the stage who delivered an inspiring speech to the 400 Unificationists and Ambassadors for Peace gathered in the hall filled to its capacity. The content of the speech was aimed to revive our life of faith, by testifying about our belief in a most simple and effective way and by understanding the seven deaths and resurrections of the True Parents.

If we could summarize all Divine Principle content in one sentence we could say: “Inheriting the True Love of God”. Hyung Jin Nim, Yeon Ah Nim and elder sister Yeon Ah Nim received flowers from the participants and right away offered them to True Parents. The National Leader Giuseppe Cali was deeply moved to tears by receiving from Hyung Jin Nim’s couple the necklace with the symbol of the Unification Church as a sign of appreciation for the entire Italian Unification Family. At the end of the Hyung Jin Nim’s speech, he and Yeon Ah Nim took pictures which each of the Blessed Families.

Hyung Jin Nim and Yeon Ah Nim delivered a few other speeches, especially while having meals, encouraging us to challenge the society by witnessing about True Parents directly and openly, by declaring our belonging to the Unification Church, with wisdom and pride at the same time. Other topics were about the standard of the world religions, the need to learn from them what the good points of their beliefs are and by going over that standard following True Parents. We are the ones that should bring all world religions to the common God and True Parents.

The whole party following Hyung Jin Nim’s couple visited several Catholic important places such as: St. Peter's Church and even climbing to the top of the dome, St. Paul's Church where the Christian saint is buried, St. John's Church, the former Holy Sea, passing by the Coliseum, Fori Imperiali, Circo Massimo and some of the main archeological sites of Rome.

What was particularly interesting to everybody was the incredible artistic development that in the history the Christian faith could bring to glorify God, even though many times it was found to be a little “too external” or not corresponding to real faith and true love standard, that was supposed to be lived by Jesus disciples. The most interesting and spiritual experience was in the “Holy Stairs” church. Hyung Jin Nim and Yeon Ah Nim leaded all of us, their party, plus the Italian National leaders and the few Italian brothers and sisters supporting the tour, in climbing the stair on their knees, a tradition that is meant to repent in front of God and Jesus for our sins and find forgiveness. Hyung Jin Nim's speech, right on the spot was “When we feel pain, we understand what Jesus and True Parents have gone through. So we understand that we cannot complain or stop because of this. If we don’t focus on the internal meaning, easily our body becomes the subject and we cannot continue. This a good training for mind and body unity and a test of the strength of our faith”

Finally on the last evening Hyung Jin Nim, Yeon Ah Nim and all the party visited a blessed family's home, the Natale family, and they were able to spend a very meaningful and joyful time together. Hyung Jin Nim wrote a calligraphy for them.

We, Italian members feel very privileged to have received our International President and all the world level leaders. For a couple of days we experienced to be the center of the world, having True Parents inheritor and most of the main world leaders with us. They left us with lot of inspiration and providential determination and we are very grateful to God, True Parents and to of all them for the care we received through them from Heaven.

Hyung Jin Nim Shares His Vision in Germany

After arriving at the Frankfurt airport from Paris on the afternoon of August 27, Hyung Jin Nim and his party, including his wife Yeon Ah Nim, and elder sister Yeon Ah Nim (Choi), wife of the ascended Hyo Jin Moon, Dr. Thomas Walsh and Tajeddin Hamad from UPF-International, and Rev. and Mrs. Song, went to the Holy Ground at the Gruneburg Park. They were welcomed at the airport by the Schmidt family, the Hausmann family and the Piepenburg family together with a small delegation from the Frankfurt community. The Holy Ground in Frankfurt was established on July 29, 1965 by True Father himself, when he established Holy Grounds all over Europe and the Middle East. Some 20 members of the Frankfurt congregation had been waiting there to give them a warm welcome.

We then travelled to a village near Giessen to visit the family of Seppo and Brigitte Makkonen, who had been picked by lottery. Soon a lively discussion was going on between the Makkonen family and the three guests of honor. Hyung Jin Nim began to share freely about his vision to challenge atheism and secularism. He then asked each member of the family to explain three blessings or positive points about the other family members. This became a very deep and intimate sharing of how each one of the family appreciates the other, moving people to tears. Everybody was impressed by the spirit of openness; honesty and brotherly support which Hyung Jin Nim and Yeon Ah Nim were carrying into the home of this chosen family. He also explained about the three stages of filial piety and said, while he is the son of True Father, he still feels he is in the position of a servant as well, especially when it comes to providentially important decisions and mandates. At around 8:30 PM, after staying there for nearly 3 hours, the party left for the Neumuehle training center near Bad Camberg, where they would stay for the following two days.

Saturday, August 28th 
As he does every day, Hyung Jin Nim started the day at 3:00 o’clock in the morning with his morning mediation. He was joined by his party and a part of the German trinity. Also present were some 120 young people from the “Original Divine Principle - Plus” Workshop. This was followed by Hoon Dok Hwe at 5:00 a.m., when all workshop members were reading from Father’s Autobiography sentence by sentence.

Saturday was the day for visiting religious sites. We went to the Wartburg and enjoyed an exclusive tour through the castle, walking on the footsteps of Elisabeth of Thuringia. Elisabeth came to the Wartburg Castle from Hungary at the age of 4 as the future wife of the prince. She invested her life and wealth totally for the poor and the sick, even after her husband had died on a crusade. She died at the young age of 24, leaving behind three children, and was canonized by the Catholic Church shortly afterwards.

The other prominent religious figure in the Wartburg was Martin Luther. After being outlawed by Emperor Charles V, Luther was protectd by his friend Count Friedrich and brought to the Wartburg. There Luther translated the New Testament into German in only 10 months.

Hyung Jin Nim recognized the fact that the Wartburg is an early place of ecumenism, since a Catholic saint as well as the founder of Protestantism was living under the same roof and are both remembered there.

After a quick lunch at the “Kartoffelhaus” in Eisenach, the party went to the former Concentration Camp of Buchenwald near Weimar. The visit to Buchenwald was made on the specific request of Hyung Jin Nim. During the time of the Hitler’s Nazi regime, some 56,000 inmates died there of overwork and malnutrition. We all gathered at the main place, forming a semi circle, and had a deep unison prayer for the many people who suffered at the hands of the SS-men and died. Hyung Jin Nim later shared with us his thoughts about the causes of such deplorable human behavior. It rests on a morality based on atheism which made it possible that the young SS members could behave so inhumanely against their fellow men. In fact one condition for the young SS recruits was not to belong to any church. Elder Yeon Ah Nim (Choi) later remarked that she is always amazed how God, despite the vileness and corruption of men, continues to work His providence of salvation and continues to believe in the successful conclusion of the providence of salvation.

On the way back to Camberg, Hyung Jin Nim sat in the car together with Dieter Schmidt, Christian Hausmann and Fritz Piepenburg. Throughout the 3 hour drive, he shared about his ideas and vision to renew the Korean church and the worldwide church. However he also listened to our questions and both he and Yeon Ah Nim gave answers in a lively discussion. One of his points of emphasis was the need for deep faith, if we want to become successful in witnessing. He specifically lauded the Japanese brothers and sisters, who are exemplary in their life of faith and dedication.

Sunday, August 29th 
The day started at 3 a.m. with one and a half hours of meditation, which Hyung Jin Nim developed based on the Unification Church symbol. This time members from all over Germany, but mainly from the Frankfurt community, were given the chance to experience his way of meditating and exercising. At 5 a.m. we continued reading Father’s autobiography and then Hyung Jin Nim began speaking mainly to the workshop participants, who had rejoined them. He explained how, from an intellectual and philosophical viewpoint, the theistic viewpoint of the world is actually more plausible than the atheistic viewpoint. This lecture will be transcribed and translated, especially for our 2nd generation, who are sometimes overwhelmed by the reasoning of atheism and secularism. Hyung Jin Nim plans to train a number of Korean CARP members in the art of debating and arguing and then have public debates in universities and other places.

The highlight of the day, of course, was the main event held in the City Hall of Limburg. The seating was originally planned for 900 people, but soon it became clear that attendance would reach over 1000 people. An additional side hall had to be opened to accommodate the 1200 people who finally entered, among them some 450 from neighboring countries. Following a beautiful performance by two 2nd gen. music bands and a choir of over 40 members, Dieter Schmidt greeted Hyung Jin Nim, followed by an introduction from Pres. Song. When Hyung Jin Nim came on the stage, he quickly won the heart of the audience with his humble and unpretentious appearance. He then gave a well received sermon on the power of prayer and the spirituality of the world religions, who all seek to reconnect man with God. But only the Principle of the Unification Church has the logic and power to satisfy the many questions on the mind of man since centuries past. Right after the sermon, some 300 pictures were taken of various groups of people and all families present. This happened in a record time of less than 2 hours. All throughout this time, Hyung Jin Nim, Yeon Ah Nim and elder Yeon Ah Nim (Choi) received the families with a big smile, jovially talking to each one of them.

After a quick Sushi lunch, the party left for the city of Frankfurt, where they briefly relaxed at a Starbucks coffee shop. Then at the airport, Hyung Jin Nim again talked to the German leaders, sharing his vision about the completion stage level Cheon-bok Gung and how all the major religions will receive their holy place in it. A new Christmas will be celebrated each year, which is True Parents birthday, when pilgrims from all faiths and traditions will come, bring soil from their holy grounds and share in a big celebration of mixing the soil and giving out the mixture to the attending religious leaders to take back with them. He also wants to study the world’s religious scriptures in their very own original languages to deeply understand the spirituality behind each religion.

Those were some very intense and busy two and a half days. But people joining the great event on Sunday morning could gain much from it and, most importantly, get to know the international President of the Unification Church in a very intimate and personal environment.

International President Hyung Jin Nim Visits Unificationists in France

On Thursday August 26, 2010, we were blessed to receive a surprise visit to France from Hyung Jin Nim, President of the Unification Church International and his wife, Yeon Ah Nim, together with Yeon Ah Nim (Choi), the wife of Hyo Jin Nim (ascended in 2008), WFWP-Vice President and their party.

Their main motivation was to visit the family of Tony Yuen, a second generation member who recently went to the spiritual world and Tiffanie MALDONADO, who is still in the hospital in Lille (due to a traffic accident).

Hyung Jin Nim and his party arrived in Paris at 9:30 a.m. from Italy. They went directly to visit the house of the Yuen family in the South of Paris. There, he gave a very deep testimony on how the passing to the spiritual world of his elder brother Young Jin Nim changed his life completely only a few years ago. He asked the Yuen parents, Jacky and Emiko, to list three good points about each other and about each of their children. He explained that in a Blessed Family, True Parents are the roots, the parents are the trunk, and the children are the branches. Each branch must receive nourishment from the roots and the trunk. He explained that the moments a child will remember the most are the moments that he or she spent personally with his or her parents. So he asked the parents to spend at least one hour per week personally with one child on turn, in a place that would please both the child and the parents, and afterwards have one meeting together  as a couple. During this meeting, they can discuss what the child wants his parents to pray for, and for what the parents want the child to pray for. He asked them immediately to plan the first meetings, and he also suggested that the mother keeps a diary of the content of these meetings for each child, and that she gives this diary to the child at the moment of his or her Blessing.

After a quick lunch, they went by train to Lille, which is 250 kms to the North of France, to visit Tiffanie Maldonado, who is still hospitalized. Only two people a day have the possibility to visit her for a short time. So only they could go to her room and pray for her. When Tiffanie saw Hyung Jin Nim she smiled and said that she was very happy and moved. He said that it was a miracle. They held hands and prayed together. He assured her that True Parents were praying for her. Before they left, Yeon Ah Nim gave a kiss to Tiffanie. Afterwards, Hyung Jin Nim spoke very deeply with her parents in the waiting room. The Northern French community welcomed Hyung Jin Nim and his party very warmly.

They came back directly to Paris at 7 p.m., and visited the Holy Ground, near the Eiffel Tower, where they prayed very deeply.

During dinner they shared several pieces of advice and went to the Training Center for the night.

On Friday, August 27, 2010, Hyung Jin Nim guided the morning meditation at 3 a.m. Afterwards, more than 120 members gathered at 5 a.m. for Hoon Dok Hwe during which Hyung Jin Nim spoke about the importance of prayer life. Each family had a chance to take a photo with Hyung Jin Nim’s couple and Yeon Ah Nim (Choi). He then he drew a beautiful calligraphy for us before his departure at 7 am.

On the way to the airport, he stopped again to pray at the Holy Ground in Paris. Then, from the car, we quickly showed him the Invalides, the Champs-Elysées, the Arch de Triumph and the Palais des Congrès where the Little Angels will perform on September 10.

Then they departed to Germany. We are very grateful for this quick visit, during which Hyung Jin Nim invested so much and gave us so much guidance to help our movement develop.
