To His Excellency, President Lee Jae-myung,

The eyes of the world are upon Korea—not in admiration, but in alarm. Your administration’s escalating campaign against religious freedom and political dissent has triggered a wave of international condemnation. The recent arrest of Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, revered globally as “True Mother,” marks a dangerous inflection point in Korea’s democratic journey.

On September 23, 2025, Dr. Han—an 83-year-old spiritual leader suffering from a serious heart condition—was detained and interrogated for over nine hours by the Special Prosecutor’s Office. Accused of embezzlement and violations of the Political Funds and Anti-Graft Acts, her arrest was justified by vague claims of “potential evidence destruction.” This move, widely perceived as politically motivated, has drawn fierce criticism from global leaders and human rights advocates.

Former U.S. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich denounced your government’s actions as “suffocating political and religious suppression,” warning that the treatment of Dr. Han “risks her death” and must be halted immediately. President Donald Trump, ahead of your White House visit, posted: “WHAT IS GOING ON IN SOUTH KOREA? Seems like a Purge or Revolution. We can’t have that and do business there.” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo echoed these concerns, calling the crackdown a betrayal of democratic principles.

This is not an isolated incident. The July 18 raid on the Unification Church, the targeting of Yoido Full Gospel Church, and the persecution of Pastor Jun Kwang-hoon of Sarang Jeil Church reveal a sweeping campaign against conservative religious voices. These actions mirror authoritarian tactics and threaten the very soul of Korea’s democratic identity.

Dr. Han Hak Ja Moon is not a politician. She is a spiritual emissary of peace, continuing the legacy of her late husband, Rev. Sun Myung Moon, founder of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification. Since its founding in 1954, the Federation has been instrumental in Korea’s post-war recovery—establishing schools, universities, media outlets (including The Washington Times), and peace initiatives that span over 150 nations.

Rev. Moon and Dr. Han have met with world leaders from North Korea’s Kim Il Sung to Cambodia’s Hun Sen, Senegal’s Macky Sall, and even delivered interfaith lectures at the Kremlin. Their diplomacy has elevated Korea’s global stature and fostered reconciliation across religious and national divides. Their mission has always been one of unity, healing, and moral revival.

To persecute such figures is not only unjust—it is self-destructive.

President Lee, your administration is measuring the Korean people with a rod of suppression. But as Scripture warns, “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” The suffering inflicted upon Korea’s faithful will inevitably return to its source. You have the power to break this cycle—not through force, but through liberation.

Liberate Dr. Han. Liberate the Korean people. Liberate yourself.

Korea stands at a prophetic crossroads. Just as the Israelites once rejected their Messiah and bore the burden for generations, so too does Korea risk spiritual decline by turning away from the representative of the Second Coming. Dr. Han’s mission is not political—it is divine. To imprison her is to imprison Korea’s destiny.

Around the world, mass rallies are forming in support of Dr. Han. Leaders from every continent are calling for her release. The internet records everything. Every act of suppression will be etched into history. But so too can acts of courage and redemption.

President Lee, you must choose your legacy. Will you be remembered as the leader who silenced Korea’s spiritual voice—or the one who restored it?
