Global Broadcast Press Release: 165th Open Letter to Her Holiness Holy Mother Han, the Mother of Peace; His Excellency President Lee Jae-myung; Honorable Members of the National Assembly; Cherished Citizens of the Republic of Korea; and 8 Billion Global Brothers and Sisters
President Lee Jae-myung, dear citizens of Korea, and fellow human beings everywhere:
On behalf of every heart that still believes in justice, we say it plainly and with deep sorrow — we are sorry. Sorry for the pain inflicted on an 83-year-old grandmother who has given her entire life for Korea and for peace. Sorry that the nation she helped lift from ruins now keeps her locked away without conviction. This is not who we are. This must end today.
This week’s events (February 25 – March 5, 2026) are impossible to ignore. On February 22 the Seoul Central District Court rejected her request to extend temporary medical release. Hours later she suffered a severe nosebleed in her cell with no immediate doctor present. On February 26, seventy clergy leaders from five continents — Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, from Africa to the Pacific — walked into Seoul Detention Center, handed over a petition for her compassionate release, and left forever changed. “What happened to the innocent in Jesus’ time is happening again today,” said African Christian Council President Johannes Ndanga after meeting her. Social media exploded with #ReleaseTheMotherOfPeace. Protests grew in Gwanghwamun Square and New York. The 2026 International Religious Freedom Summit in Washington added its voice. Yet she remains inside.
As of today, March 5, 2026, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon has spent 165 days in pretrial detention — arrested September 22, 2025, never convicted, never sentenced. Three falls in January alone. Glaucoma surgery in November. Heart issues. Extreme weight loss. She crawls to reach the toilet. Painkillers no longer suffice. This is not justice. This is a national shame.
For 65 years this woman has been Korea’s hidden blessing. Born in North Korea during the war, she stood with Rev. Sun Myung Moon and helped build the “Miracle on the Han River.” She rallied 1.2 million Koreans in 1975 against communism. She opened doors for Samsung and Hyundai to rise. She met Gorbachev in 1990 and Kim Il-sung in 1991, planting seeds of dialogue when no one else dared. She founded the Women’s Federation for World Peace (157 countries) and the Universal Peace Federation (200+ nations). Every Korean president in modern history felt her quiet support for unity and family values. Even President Lee Jae-myung’s victory carried the echo of the peace vision she championed for decades — yet today his administration holds her without final court verdict. The irony is heartbreaking.
Here is her true personal story that still moves the world: When Rev. Moon was imprisoned and their family persecuted during the Korean War, they could have chosen revenge. Instead, in 1991 they returned to the very places of pain and offered forgiveness. Mother Han said: “Seeing others as enemies blocks mercy. A mother’s infinite love builds it. I chose unity over retaliation.” That single choice helped open the path toward denuclearization talks and reconciliation. One woman’s decision to love instead of hate changed history. The same spirit can change it again — if we set her free.
Right now, half the world — more than 100 countries — suffers active armed conflict. Over 130 clashes, 50 major wars, millions displaced in Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan, Myanmar, Nigeria and beyond. The numbers have doubled in fifteen years. Every day children die, mothers weep, futures vanish.

History proves it. Her release will ignite the True Love Revolution that ends wars. Keep her locked up and the killing continues. Free her and 2026 becomes the year ALL WARS CEASE.
