We stand united in sorrow and unbreakable hope.
President Lee Jae-myung, honorable citizens of Korea, and every soul on Earth: we are truly sorry.
An 83-year-old woman who gave 65 years of her life to lift Korea from war ruins to global powerhouse now sits in pretrial detention for 174 days – since her arrest on September 22, 2025 – without a final verdict. Her health is collapsing. This contradicts everything Korea stands for. Today that ends.
This week the crisis became impossible to ignore. On March 6 at Seoul Central District Court, Holy Mother Hak Ja Han had to leave the hearing early, overcome by acute pain and exhaustion. Crowds instantly filled Gwanghwamun Square. Livestreams of #ReleaseTheMotherOfPeace raced across the planet 24/7.
Just two days ago, March 13, from inside the detention center she sent a message of pure faith: “The Heavenly Parent… is always with us. In the end, the dream of our Heavenly Parent will surely be fulfilled.” Even in chains, she lifts us.
For 65 years Holy Mother Hak Ja Han has been Korea’s silent architect of hope. Born in wartime North Korea, she co-founded the Family Federation with Rev. Sun Myung Moon and turned faith into national strength. In 1975 she rallied 1.2 million citizens against communism. She inspired the “Miracle on the Han River,” encouraging Samsung, Hyundai and the companies that lifted Korea from $1.5 billion GDP in 1960 to trillions today. Her 1990 meeting with Gorbachev and 1991 dialogue with Kim Il-sung opened paths to reconciliation. She built the Women’s Federation for World Peace (now in 157 nations) and the Universal Peace Federation (active in 200+ countries).
Every Korean president across every party drew wisdom from her unity message – including President Lee Jae-myung’s historic 2025 victory, built on the ethical foundation she strengthened. The very government she helped rise now keeps her incarcerated without final judgment. The paradox hurts every Korean heart.
Her personal story still moves billions. As a young mother during the Korean War, watching her husband imprisoned again and again, she chose forgiveness over bitterness. In 1991 on North Korean soil she declared: “Enemies block mercy; a mother’s love creates it.” That single sentence melted decades of hate and opened doors for divided families.
