Honored Chairman; distinguished former and current heads of state and government, ladies and gentlemen.

At the opening of the Third World Peace Conference today, I would like to express my deepest respect to you for coming to this historic event. It is my great pleasure that I have this opportunity to express my beliefs regarding true world peace. These are matters of greater concern than ever

before to this Third World Peace Conference.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to you who have traveled from afar wishing to become makers of true world peace to enable this magnificent conference to be held.

As members of the Federation for World Peace, I would like to share with you my activities these past few months. Recognizing that God has a will for Latin America, I embarked on an ambitious tour of 23 nations in South America, the Andean nations, the Caribbean, Central America and Mexico. In each nation, I shared my beliefs with the key leaders, and in eight of these nations I had the unique opportunity to privately meet the heads of state to discuss matters related to world peace. The topic of my talk was "True Family and I."

While traveling around the continent -- east and west, and north and south -- I meditated and prayed about this special part of the world. I thought about what the 30 nations that make up Latin American must do to achieve true peace and establish an ideal society.

Clearly the continent has stunning and rich potential. There are seemingly unlimited resources and human energies hardly tapped. It is a rich and peaceful natural paradise of grand mountains and unspoiled nature. The mountains and jungles harken back to the original state of creation, the Garden of Eden.

I thought about the glory-filled days of Latin America that lie ahead in the 21st Century. At each opportunity, I gave a single piece of advice to the leaders. I said, "Please do not follow in the footsteps of the developed nations. Do not blindly repeat the errors committed by developed countries in their rush to harness their energies in the name of progress."

Why did I give this advice? It is because I see a grim and dark future for already developed countries. It is because the so-called developed countries do not have the happiness that mankind has wanted from the inception of mankind.

Let us talk about the United States for a moment. For the last 25 years, I have done my utmost to establish the structure for world peace. Yet despite my efforts, I am a person who has suffered America's persecution, while trying to guide America into the right direction.

In the 1960's when I first visited this land of opportunity, it seemed that the whole world wanted to be like America. We deeply admired the life depicted on such television shows as "Little House on the Prairie." The sounds of hymns were heard in all corners of the country on Sundays! Superman, as an apostle of justice, was a symbol of the righteous American spirit, and city streets were spotless, in good order and beautiful. The whole world looked at America with eyes of envy in those days.

Yet if we look at America today, 30 years later, what do we see? It is a nation in decay. Difficult and insoluble problems have piled up. Moral corruption and rising violent crime are most disturbing. Murder, drugs, divorce, child abuse, kidnapping and teenage pregnancy -- all of these emanate from the America of today. As a person who loves this nation, I am deeply hurt by what I see.

Yet this phenomenon is not limited just to one single nation. All of the developed countries at the end of the 20th century are struggling with many of the same problems.

What is the reason? It is because the developed nations of the world have fallen into a pit of materialism and national selfishness.

Since the mind and spirit are controlled by our obsession for material wealth, our true essence as human beings has become a slave of our own desires. The result is a collapse of true love. Although there is an abundance of material wealth and our cities are lined with skyscrapers, the mind of mankind has dried up like a desert and the life of mankind has become desolate because the oasis of true love cannot be found. In addition, the absence of true love is the breeding ground for selfishness and the most serious victim of this attitude is the creation and environment.

One of the themes of this peace conference is the restoration of the environment. Many of our resources have been abused and damaged like the water and air. Even the ozone layer that protects our planet has been affected by the misuse of natural resources. If this trend continues, we will reach a stage where the earth cannot avoid self- destruction because of the so-called benefits from materialistic civilization.

The most serious among all the damages, however, has been the negative effects upon and destruction of the family as a basic building block for the nation. The family is the cell of society. If each of tens of trillions of cells in our body is healthy, then the body is likewise healthy. Conversely, if the cells are weakened and destroyed, then the whole body can become weak and eventually may stop functioning. Therefore, destruction of the true family system on this earth means the destruction of all humankind may not be far off. Our society is running toward a destination directly opposite to what was originally designed and created by God.

The twenty-first century is inevitably a time to return to the original world of God's will. A civilization with the spirit and mind as master is coming soon. The 21st century is only five years from now. It is my sincere wish that the developing countries do not follow in the footsteps of the so-called developed countries, but rather they should take the developed countries' experience as a lesson, and directly move into the world where spirit and mind become master instead of falling into a pit of national-centered materialism. This is the very content that I emphasized and repeated during my speaking tour to South America.

Now, we have reached a time when the world cannot avoid a great change. In religious terms, we can say that we have reached "the Last Days" of humankind. But, the last days I refer to does not mean darkness and destruction. From God, the Creator's point of view, the Last Days are the end of the wrong world -- the fallen, selfish world -- and it will be followed immediately by the founding of the correct and true world -- the original world of God's creation. Therefore, the Last Days are the wish as well as the hope for us all.

Then, with what can we achieve this historic conversion from the materialistic civilization to a spiritual civilization? Truth is called light. The rod to liberate the dark night is the dawn's morning sunlight. That sun of historic conversion is rising towards the center of the sky. We refer to this as the Unification Principle and the great principle of true love.

Upon the call of God, I came to explore the great principle of the universe. As I discovered through prayer and study, I realized that it was the great truth mankind has been seeking throughout history as well as the great principle upon which all mankind can return to true love and consummate true world peace.

As a physician needs to diagnose the precise cause of an illness in order to cure the patient, the Principle clearly identifies why today's human society fell into misery and the course of the fall of mankind that led to the unprincipled world that we struggle with everyday. Once the cause is diagnosed, the prescription can be applied. For the last 40 years, I have traveled the globe with this prescription and devoted myself to spreading it clearly to the world.

I want to highlight today to this august gathering some of these great Principles. But, in a sense, it is like licking the peel of watermelon, and it is not possible for you to grasp in depth the philosophical implications so quickly. One needs to sincerely study the Unification Principle with time and prayer. If we do indeed live for eternity, then clearly our priorities in life need to be reorganized.

The first great Principle is that God is a living God, and He is the parent of humankind. That is to say that the relationship between God and humanity is that of Father and children. This is the first truth that God revealed to me.

Secondly, God's original personality is true love, and He created all things and humankind to perfect His true love. The human race is therefore the object-being of God. God wants to unconditionally pour unlimited true love into the hearts of His children.

Thirdly, God, the invisible Parent, established True Parents as His substantial entity on the earth. He tries to save the world through the True Parents. Humankind can be eternally restored by regaining true love, true life and true lineage in perfect unity with the ideals of the True Parents.

Amazingly, we are now living in the era of True Parents. There has never been and will never be a time of this magnitude of blessing in the history of human existence. This enables us to be called the lucky generation born with heavenly fortune.

Two days from now, on August 25, Mrs. Moon and I will officiate at an international wedding ceremony for 360,000 couples here in Seoul.

I call this ceremony a "true ceremony for world peace." As I stated earlier, the reason there is no true world peace today lies in the breakdown of the family structure. A family which is not united with the true love of God may not be called a family of true love.

This holy wedding ceremony, which will be simultaneously conducted in 160 nations via satellite, is a ceremony that will vertically connect humankind into true love with the True Parents -- the substantial being of God, the invisible Parents. This is also a ceremony locking into horizontal brotherhood the participants of this ceremony as true brothers and sisters in front of True Parents, transcending territorial boundaries, races and religions.

This is a great transformation ceremony for humankind, restoring God's true love, true life and true blood lineage which were lost due to the fall of the first human ancestors, Adam and Eve.

This is accordingly a moment of great excitement that mankind, which has been suffering under the reign and domain of Satan for 6,000 biblical years, will be set free and liberated for the first time. It is a ceremony of great joy which will see the shackles break loose and humanity returned to the liberated heaven and earth of God's true love and to chant Hosanna! This ceremony is possible at this time because of the appearance and manifestation of True Parents.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is also a ceremony in which man and woman bound in marriage before God, can vow purity and fidelity to one other. The destruction of the true family means the destruction of chastity. Since immoral love was the cause of the fall of our ancestors, then we who are the descendants became the victims of the same immoral, promiscuous love. This is the world phenomenon of today manifested in free sex, homosexual love, and decadent love relationships. The promiscuity of today's world is reminiscent of the animal kingdom.

The time has come for humankind to return to the world of God's original purity and chaste love by completely liberating fallen mankind from its false ancestors. The transformers who liberate this world are the True Parents.

The Bride will pledge the love of chastity to her bridegroom as her subject, recognizing him as God's son who represents all men of the world and the substantial being of True Parents. The Bridegroom will pledge all the love of chastity to his bride, accepting her as God's daughter representing all women of the world and the feminine incarnation of the True Parents.

Could a dreadful disease like AIDS penetrate into the husband and wife relationship united in this way? Not likely. AIDS is a test of the Last Days examining the purity and fidelity of humankind. Yet modern society tries to prevent AIDS through the use of condoms and to cure it through the development of new medicines, but without any relation to the will of God. AIDS is not a problem that can be solved in that manner. Its solution lies only in the restoration of morality as well as the restoration of true love. A Harvard University institute recently issued a research report that by the year 2010, AIDS will have affected about one billion people worldwide. This is staggering number threatens the very existence of the human race.

AIDS can be solved only when we return to the True Love desired by God. That is love of purity and fidelity between man and woman. When I speak of fidelity, I do not mean the traditional fidelity enforced only upon women. I refer to the simultaneous purity and fidelity of men and women together based on the principle of God, which is the ideal of one man for one woman, that provides that man and woman protect the sanctity and holiness of the act of love, not engage in pre-marital relations, and, after being blessed with their ideal counterparts, husband and wife love one another infinitely and eternally as subject and object.

Today, I want to stress purity and fidelity more for men than women. It is not an overstatement to say that the damage caused by men who indulge in uncontrolled animal-like love become the very cause of the destruction of humankind's chance for happiness.

It is not possible in today's decadent world for the power of mankind by himself to return to the original order of True Love as desired by God. What enables this is the power of God, and this power of God is manifested by the advent of the True Parents on earth.

The True Parents of mankind came to the earth to ignite the fire for the revolution of true love. This order of true love cannot be established without a revolutionary procedure. This revolutionary bonfire of True Love is now bursting into flames.

The international holy wedding is indeed the celebration raising the flames of a revolution of True Love and opens the opportunity for the re-creation of a restored world.

The event on August 25th comprises 360,000 couples, but when this spreads to 3,600,000 couples, to 36 million couples, to 360 million couples, and to 3.6 billion couples, AIDS will be eradicated from human society and the world of pure love where God and man become one will be realized. This is not just a dream. The implementation of God's Providence for the Heavenly Kingdom on the Earth is an inevitable future because it is not man's work, but God's.

Respected leaders, would you like to receive God's blessing? In order to receive it, you should first of all establish a personality of united mind and body centered on God's True Love. Then, as husband and wife, you should be absolutely united centered on God's True Love. When the number of families where children become totally one with their parents, centered on God, and cover the world, then our Father who art in Heaven can come down to live on this earth.

Man wants to join his loved one even if she is living on an isolated rural land or poverty-stricken area. That is the nature of a subject. It wants to live together with its beloved object. As we want to live in a place with our loved ones, likewise God wants to live in the place where His sons and daughters reside. That is where He can love them most. In that sense, even a slum will change into a heaven.

This international holy wedding is a ceremony to completely wash away all the corrupted things that began from false parents -- false love, false life, false blood lineage -- because of false love. It is also a ceremony by which Mrs. Moon and I, as the True Parents of humankind centered on God, have each couple grafted into the seed of true love, the seed of true life, and the seed of true blood lineage, that has perfected the unity of God and man.

In order to restore the family that bases its relationship on false love, false life, and false blood lineage caused by the fall, we need a Blessed wedding for all the international families to participate, and through which the great blessing of heaven may be passed on to them.

In this way, we will establish the blood lineage passed through God and True Parents at the levels transcending nations, races and religions. We can then proclaim true principles of parents -- husband and wife -- and others by establishing the great heavenly families centered on God, initiate the heartistic civilization, and then complete the liberated Heavenly Kingdom on earth. This is the central focus of my work, and the purpose of the Unification Movement.

Being born of true love, living in true love, and entering into the Heavenly Kingdom with complete true love is the original ideal of humankind as created by God. And now that we can make it ours and fully implement it at this time, how can we not call it the day of great hope for all humanity?

Today, 20th century science has reduced the world to a small global village. Humankind is the global family living in this global village. There should never have existed borders, different races and religions, but only the ideal world of true love united between God and man. I want you to be reminded that true world peace is to return to the original world of God's creation.

Respected ladies and gentlemen, and participants in the Third World Peace Conference, I sincerely wish that you become the true apostles of peace. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to you, precious colleagues and contributors to world peace.

March 26th, 1997  Washington Hilton Hotel Translated by Mr. Peter Hyo Yul Kim Closing remarks at the inaugural meeting of the Martial Arts Federation for World Peace I am grateful that with your cooperation this convention has been very successful. We have a saying in Korea that getting started is half the job done. Therefore, please do not get discouraged but think that the rest will follow naturally. Originally I planned to lecture for three hours, however time is ticking away so I have less than one hour to talk. We have to understand what humankind needs and desires most. Nobody in history knew this. In a true man, mind and body become united. What about you? Does this apply to you? Both men and women desire mind-body unity. When we look at human history, our ancestors, Adam and Eve split. Because their mind and body divided, human history is a history of division. Originally there should have been one nation under Adam and Eves supervision and rule. However, because of their division there have been many different nations. There are hundreds of nations, with differing cultures and traditions. If God exists, what kind of nation and world would He create? It would be a world of unification, without division or separation. A human body has over 40 billion cells. Wherever we go, whatever we do, these 40 billion cells work together in harmony. Gods world is the same. God Himself has absolute mind-body unity. The teachings of major religions all emphasize mind-body unity, because this is how we resemble God. Because we do not have mind-body unity we cannot see peace. The concept of peace entails more than one person; there should be a horizontal alliance between at least two or three people. That is what we call peace. Then why did division start? Because of the human fall. Why did the fall cause such division? Because of Satan, human beings started with false love, not with the true love that comes from God. Our physical body has become the vessel of Satan; it is like Satans military base. So where does hell begin? With our physical body. This is why our mind and body are fighting. Why has our body become the vessel of Satan and the starting point of hell? It is because of false love. Because of this false love we inherit false lineage. Because Adam and Eve fell at the growth stage, God never had a chance to build His original true love relationship with human beings. Humankind has been dealing with satanic love, which is false love. At the fall, the power of false love was stronger than the power of our conscience; that is why the fall took place. Therefore, humankind has been attached to the power of fallen love. That is why even now men and women are driven by bodily desire. The importance of religion Satan is above our mind. In other words, our physical body, which represents satanic power, is above our mind. So there is a gap between mind and body. We must fill the gap. Therefore, when we push this mind to transcend bodily desires, God can come down and dwell with us. In order to achieve that goal we must deny our body. Because of the fall, humankind needed the major religions. Those religious doctrines all emphasize pushing down our bodily desire. That was the responsibility of religions. They also emphasize abstinence and celibacy. That is why in Buddhism and Catholicism there are nuns, priests and monks who practice abstinence, although they do not know the original reason. There are only two ways to secure mind-body unity. One way is to negate and keep pressing down your bodily desires. The second way is to focus absolutely on the connection with God and love God more than your children or your parents. Then you will be connected to God and your bodily desire will be negated. This is the reason that among all the world religions, Christianity is a major power. Religious doctrines emphasize voluntary service for others. Satan wants to go up, but serving others makes us go down. Religions teach us to be humble and patient and not to resist others. In that sense, resisting is linked to the satanic world. To be humble is the opposite of being arrogant. Religions also emphasize a sacrificial life. By practicing a sacrificial life you will become more humble. Religions teach the value of making offerings, and martyrs offered their blood. That is why Jesus said that those who seek to gain their life will lose it and those who are willing to lose their life for Jesus' sake will find it. This statement sounds somewhat contradictory, but it means that if you live your life just for your own sake then you will die spiritually, even though you remain physically alive. But if you give up your life for the sake of others, even if you lose your physical life, you will live with God in eternity. Religions also emphasize fasting. Have you experienced fasting? Kindness, humility, fasting, sacrifice, and martyrdom hit our body, dont they? You martial artists do not think of such things, do you? You train and then go after food and drink, saying, "I need more, more food, more energy." Our bodily desires, which represent Satans side, are diminished by things like fasting and making ourselves humble. As our bodily desires keep going down, our mind comes up and we get closer to God and Gods love comes upon us. Gods love dwells upon the foundations of kindness, humility, fasting, sacrifice, and martyrdom. Christianity teaches the relationship between parents and children. Since Jesus is described as the bridegroom, Christianity also teaches the relationship between bridegroom and bride. Christianity teaches the relationship among brothers. Jesus called himself our brother, indicating that we are all one family centered on God. Then, what is the purpose of pushing down our bodily desires? It is to unite mind and body and then unite with a spouse who has the same mind-body unity; it is to find our love partner. So first, we have to unite mind and body and second, we have to find our spouse. Experiencing mind-body unity Do you like love? (Yes!) How much? Is your love greater than the universe? We all seek love, but the love we inherited all the way from Adam and Eve is satanic love. In our blood lineage there is separation between mind and body. If there is a division of mind and body in our spouse, that means four entities are fighting. That is the reality of the fallen, satanic world. We should destroy this problem and eliminate this division. If such elimination had come about a long time ago, the process of restoration would have been much simpler. Suppose there were only two people in this world to be restored: it would have been much easier for God to restore them instead of restoring millions of people. Do you all feel qualified to enter the Kingdom of God? You cannot enter as long as there is a division between your mind and body or between you and your spouse. God does not exist where there is division. God has nothing to do with such divisions. The first criterion for God to be involved with you is absolute unity between mind and body centering on true love. Our bodily desires, which are on the satanic side, have been higher than our mind. By pressing our body down further, our mind comes up and then we achieve mind-body unity. When I watched your martial arts demonstrations tonight I saw many of you trying to reach the unification of spirit and body. As you know, the moment of the unification of your spirit and body is the moment of unification of your mind and body. When you perform certain demonstrations, you achieve that goal. Once you reach mind-body unity you can break whatever object you are trying to break, because once you become one you generate great power. Once you reach that moment of unity between mind and body and spirit, then you feel like your breathing has stopped and you can do whatever you want. In my experience, the moment my spiritual five senses are opened I can see the entire spirit world freely. What enables me to see the spirit world? The power of love. You cannot see the point upon which your mind and body unite. However, you must know that is where strength, energy, and power are generated. Once you reach absolute mind-body unity, miracles take place. All kinds of miracles will happen, such as healing. It is not difficult to see miracles. What kind of love do you need? True love? Can you say what true love is? True love is love which unites you and your love partner absolutely and inseparably for eternity. Have you and your spouse achieved that? Once you reach that goal as husband and wife, God will come down to you and be united with you absolutely and immediately. Once God comes down upon you and is united with you, you can do many miracles. If you open your arms you can make people repent. Whatever you wish will happen. Don't you think that would be more interesting and more fun than breaking bricks and boards? If you can perform such miracles you can revive the dead. This is possible only when you can utilize the power of true love. The more you practice true love the greater it becomes. Those who want to possess true love show your hands. But there is a precondition: if you want to obtain true love you have to keep pressing your body down to the zero point. Can you do that? If you cannot do that you will go to hell. He I am a religious leader and somewhat controversial. The world has been criticizing and persecuting me in every possible way, but I didnt perish. Just as you have been training in how to defend yourself and how to attack your opponent, Satan has been attacking me and persecuting me all these years, but I always defended myself and found my way out. Whenever I close my eyes I can go up to God and God comes down to me. We freely travel together. True love provides that power and ability. Because I possess such true love, there is no boundary when I reach the spirit world. The Kingdom of Heaven is where people of no boundary and no limitation live. Dont you think it will be good? It is getting late. You heard enough messages tonight, didn't you? Overcoming bodily desires You should know one thing. You are all strong people; your bodies are well built and well trained. But in your daily life, will you follow your bodily desires, or will you make sure that your body follows your mind? Which way? You are a physically strong man, which way will you choose? People are being led by their bodily desire every day. Your body always says, "Well, your beloved wife is waiting for you at home, but she doesnt know where you are going so you can go and buy a drink and spend some time with your girlfriend." You don't care if your infant children are waiting for you at home and crying for you, you just follow your bodily desire. If you really do that do you think your mind is happy? Originally, God created humankind so that our mind would lead our bodily desires. But in this world the order is reversed. That is why everybody goes to hell. However, if this becomes right side up, you will all go to the Kingdom of Heaven. You must know this clearly! You are martial arts specialists, grand masters. Even if you dont have all the logic and reasoning for this at least you must know one thing: our physical body is the most fearful, treacherous vessel of Satan. Unless we rid our bodies of this fallen, satanic nature, God cannot come down to us. Just as God could not interfere in the fall, God cannot enter our physical body. Satan can be described as Gods love enemy. Nobody knew this fact. We inherited Satans blood lineage. Human beings were supposed to multiply from Gods lineage and become Gods children, but instead we received Satans blood lineage and became Satans children. This is why God cannot interfere. How did the fall happen? Because of our eyes, nose, ear, mouth, or hand? Through the misuse of the sexual organ, through false love, the human fall took place! Because of false love, human beings became false parents, giving false love, life, lineage and conscience. They became one with Satan instead of one with God. No one became absolutely one with God. They all united in opposition to God. What kind of world are you living in now? It is hell! Nobody knew that. I have been fighting all my life to eliminate Satans lineage from humanity. Yet the world's religious leaders and their followers have been opposing and persecuting me until now. In particular, Christianity has been opposing me, America has been opposing me and Russia has been opposing me. From the individual level to the family, tribe, society, nation and world, the entire world has been attacking me all these years. But I didnt pause. Nobody supported me. Satan and his children attacked me. (At this moment, one of the participants presented a medal to Father.) Since you are presenting this to me, I will receive this. You are thinking of me as a champion. Thank you. Who is the most famous or popular person in this world? It is me. What am I famous for? The world has been crying, "Reverend Moon is the worst devil, the worst person in this world. Let us kill him. Let us chase him out and eliminate him." That has been the cry. Even if I am an aged man, I am still strong. For that reason, nobody can conquer me! Do you feel good now that you have finally met me? (Yes!) But I dont like the fact that I met you tonight. I am standing on top of the cliff and you are standing at the bottom. So I have to use my strength to pull you up. That is why I dont like you. There are over a thousand people here tonight. If I have to pull everybody up, each of you will say, "Me first! Me first!" All five billion people will ask to be pulled up first. But you are special people. You are grand masters, so shall I give special consideration to you and extend my hand to you first? To whom shall I extend my hand first? Those who are asking to be helped first are destined for hell. So, instead of asking for help you have to prepare yourself by attaching a hook with a rope onto your belt and then hook it onto my belt. That way we cannot be separated. That is how it is meant to be. If you hook onto everything that belongs to me, including the truth that I teach, saying "This is mine, absolutely mine; I wont let it get away from me; I will stick with the truth even to eternity," then there is hope. Only when you take such action will you be liberated. So you know that no matter what, you must achieve the goal of absolute mind-body unity. This body has been a thief, a historic burglar. Satan, who is an enemy of God, corrupted and murdered countless people; Satan corrupted Christianity and made it shed blood. This body and Satan have murdered, sacrificed, martyred and shed blood throughout human history. This is why we have to capture this body and Satan. So how did I say the human fall took place? How did it happen? [Through the sexual organ.] How do you know if I am lying? A person who looks like a swindler has a long nose. How do you prove that I am not lying? You have to ask your mind and listen to your mind. When you deal with somebody, dont depend only on your physical senses but use your intuition. If you cannot distinguish the difference, think of yourself as a stream of water in a quiet forest and then, just like radar, your mind will capture the mind of another person, analyze it and let you know. Your mind will play the role of radar. Suppose you are to go home to take care of your children and meet your wife, but your body is leading you to a bar. Then ask your mind which direction to take, and it will tell you clearly. If there is a beautiful woman right next to you, your body keeps getting closer to her and is attracted to her; then ask your mind if you have to go with her or stay away from her; your mind will tell you to stay away from her. No matter who you are, when you do something wrong you always hear the inner voice of your conscience, dont you? Your mind always tells you the truth. Is it true? If you know that your wife is waiting to meet you at 5:00 p.m. but your body goes to a bar, dont you feel guilty? Yes or no? [Yes.] Who is the owner of myself? Not my body but my conscience. The conscience is the eternal owner, the eternal subject. You do not know that. You should know how valuable it is. Your conscience protects you more closely than your parents, your teachers, your king or your president. Your conscience is the closest being to you. You must know that. Your mind is in the subject position, and the conscience is even closer than God is. However because of the fall, our minds function became weaker than our bodily desires. I am not lying to you. I have experienced this and I am telling you this. I have dealt with many people in the spiritual world and I gave the same truth to them. Do you understand? Now you are learning to conquer your bodily desire. Achieving true love Once your mind and body become one, Gods love will automatically be upon you. True love has magnetic power. Gods love is powerful like a magnet. People with mind-body unity always become the subject anywhere they go. Those who are subject have a magnetic power and can create unity wherever they go. Dont you think so? The concept is becoming reality. Once you reach mind-body unity, you dont have to make effort to bring God down to your level and become one with you. God will automatically become one with you. [To a Christian minister:] Do you have absolute mind-body unity? [I am trying.] When does the trying end? When will you complete it? Trying means that you are in the middle position. Trying by itself cannot accomplish the purpose. No matter how difficult it may be, we must make unity between mind and body. [To a professor:] No matter how famous you may be, you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven until your mind and body are united. [I am trying.] God does not like only trying. If you are trying, that means you still belong to Satan. This is the logical conclusion. Do you understand? Lets think about the second method. You must love God with your mind and body united. You have to conquer Gods vertical love. God is the vertical central figure. There is only one point where God can settle in you, and that is at a 90-degree angle. However, because of the fall, humankind could not connect with God at a 90-degree angle; the angle has varied. People's minds are not vertically oriented; the problem is that people are horizontally oriented. How can we adjust the mind to the original direction? In order to go toward the original direction, you must prepare for the pain of re-creation. Otherwise, there is no way to be saved. This is very logical. Unification Church doctrine is very scientific and logical. The role of religion in this world now is diminishing. However, the young people of the Unification Church are alive and working. When Gods true love comes down and reaches our level, it ignites a spark like a lightning. Once that happens all satanic elements will be eliminated from us and we will automatically become one with God and Gods true love. Dont you want to invite that kind of true love to come to you? [Yes.] Those who want true love raise your hands. American women who have a weight problem restrict their bodies because they want to diet, not because they want to conquer bodily desires in order to make mind-body unity. If anyone does this for the purpose of chasing Satan out from herself, she will receive blessing, but I dont see anyone doing that in America. This is why religious people have healthy bodies even if they dont diet. Because people eat like pigs, Satan will take their bodies and they will die early. They are punished. Because they ate like pigs, their bodies become large and heavy, and they will die sooner. They will go to hell sooner than others will. So you must understand this truth clearly. When you go to the spiritual world, you will meet me. When you see me in the spirit world you will say "Oh Reverend Moon, I met you on such and such a day in such and such a year at the Martial Arts Convention at the Hilton Hotel. Therefore, no matter what my status, please help me and take me to a good place in the spirit world." What kind of answer should I provide? Even if I am walking side by side with you, you will not be able to follow me. The atmosphere of the spirit world is love. Love is like the air in that realm. Therefore, if you are not really on the same level with my love you cannot deal with me. I can see nobody here who does not long for true love. Am I right? What is true love? What is the essence of true love? [Father picks a few flowers from the vase and throws them to the audience.] True love is giving and forgetting about it, and then giving again. It means giving forever and forgetting forever. True love means giving everything. Even if God disappears because of giving He will still give. Once you give everything of yourself for the sake of your spouse or object, then you are in a vacuum. You belong to the person to whom you have given. When there is absolute low pressure, suddenly the higher pressure comes and fills in the vacuum, making equilibrium. Isnt it true? [Yes!] Gods love works in such a way. Living for the sake of others For hundreds and millions of years, God has been giving and providing everything, but God never tried to remember it. He forgets. If God remembered what He has given to humankind the giving would stop. Therefore, God forgets and keeps giving. This is how motion occurs. There is one absolute law in this world that whoever most lives for the sake of others will become the central person in the family, community, and society. The one who gives most will be the central person because that person resembles God, who has been giving for the sake of humanity all these millions of years. Among your family members, whoever sacrifices and devotes himself or herself most for the other family members will be the central person in the family. Such children are called filial sons and daughters. Such citizens of a nation are called patriots. Saints give everything and sacrifice themselves for the sake of the world. Those who try to save the world even at the cost of their nation are saints. A holy son is one who observes the palace law of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth and in heaven, as well as the heavenly law of both the spiritual and the physical worlds. The one who practices and lives for the sake of these four laws will be called a holy son. The universal truth is that the one who lives for the sake of others will become the central figure. For example, you are all martial arts masters. There is a limited time for demonstrations. If everybody tries to go first, can we call them people who live for others? Suppose one grand master who is qualified to give a demonstration yields his turn to other people one time, a second time, and a third time and without complaining or feeling sorry, by the fourth time everybody will come and say, "You go first." Dont you think so? This is the very principle by which I have been living my entire life. Even though the entire world has been criticizing me and opposing me I know this is true. This is absolute truth and this is why I have been following it. In the end, the entire world could turn and give me its support and recognition. God is the absolute being who gives eternally; that is why He is the eternal center of the cosmos. This is the true conclusion. Do you understand? The one who eternally lives for the sake of others becomes the eternal owner and eternal central figure. On the contrary, what is the definition of the devil? The devil is the being who keeps living for himself, taking from others, and asking others to do things for his own sake. The devil will become smaller and eventually disappear, while those who live for the sake of others, such as God, will become bigger and bigger. This is very logical and principled. Some black brothers and sisters have been severely persecuted and attacked by white people because of racism. They have animosity and anger within themselves, and they seek revenge, but that is not the right way. The same applies to people of any color. Orientals, Hispanics, Italians, Blacks and others are continuously entering the United States. If Americans live for the sake of these people, America will be raised up, but if Americans do not live for the sake of others America will decline. Whoever attacks first will naturally be defeated. As we learned from World Wars I and II, the side which attacked first was defeated in the end. Also in World War III, the side which attacked first will be defeated in the end. This is the truth. This is the formula in the providence of God. Isnt it true? [Yes.] I dont think so. [Still the audience answers, Yes.] If you are so sure, then you must answer yes with a voice loud enough to awaken God. Well, I am so intoxicated by my own talk that I forgot about my cold. That is why I am getting sicker. Isnt it a good thing that I can help you enter the Kingdom of Heaven by sacrificing myself for all of you? The same applies to you. You shouldnt complain about a situation when everyone is complaining. You shouldnt despair in a situation where everyone despairs. Dont waste your energy for nothing. That is the kind of life I am living. If you dont worry, you will live a long life. This is the way to resemble God. Changing the direction of your life Dont you want to become the true children of God? [Yes!] Have you thought about the difference between your love toward your children to whom you gave birth and your love towards God, as you become His true children? Which is greater, the first love or second love? [Second love.] How many times greater love do you have for God than for your children? Which is greater: the love between secular parents and children or the love of true children toward God? If the second love is greater than the first love, how many times greater is it? [Infinitely greater.] Good answer. Remember what Jesus said: "Whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother, and sister, and mother." More than anyone or anything, you must love God. Do you understand? This is the fallen world. The love in this secular world is connected to the fall. The love in the original, unfallen world is much more valuable than the love in the fallen world. The love in the original world gradually increases but the love in the satanic world gradually declines and ends up in hell. The world where we are living is the kingdom of hell on earth. You must know this. You must stamp out this world. You have to reverse the course 180 degrees. After listening to my speech, can you reverse your life course 180 degrees? What if I say not to drink anymore? Why do you think I will say not to drink? Satan has used alcohol as a weapon to control humanity and destroy human beings. Smoking also. Of course, give up drug abuse and free sex, for these are clearly Satans weapons. You have to understand why you should not touch those things. Unless you are given a clear reason for not smoking, drinking, or abusing drugs it is not easy to do that. It is not fair. You are thinking and feeling different things after hearing my teaching this evening, right? Or is there no change? This is what is called a brainwashing session. Shall I brainwash you a little bit more? (Applause.) Just as Jesus Christ taught us, those who seek to gain their life will lose it and those who are willing to lose their life for his sake will gain it. By the same token, if you truly live for the sake of the entire world, for the sake of others, even if you lose your life God will come down and revive you. If I teach you this truth will you still call me a bad guy? [No!] No means K. N. O. W. You know. I am revealing facts based on my personal experience. Bringing people to the Blessing Human beings deal with four different directions - north, south, east, and west. Suppose you lose your life three times yet are willing to give your life again, because in order to make a circle you need four points - north, east, south and west. So even if you lose your life three times, God will give you a fourth life. Women throughout the world caused Adam to fall; women destroyed Jesus family and destroyed the world of the Lord of Second Advent. Women in the world caused the death of the first Adam, crucified the second Adam, and almost destroyed the third Adam, the Lord of the Second Advent. Women are in the position of Eve. Eve destroyed three husbands. So we must not trust women. (The audience laughs.) Dont laugh. There are reasons. It would take hours to fully explain why I am saying this. [To a member of the audience:] If you are a true husband, even though your wife attacks you three times, you should be able to say that you cannot abandon her and you will live and die for her sake. If you can do this, you will be able to live. If you can do this, you will become a true husband, guaranteed by God. Even if a man is attacked by his wife three times, if he returns to his wife still smiling we can call him a true man. In this way, you can sit on Gods shoulder. Dont you remember when Jesus Christ was pierced by the Roman soldiers spear, instead of cursing them he prayed to God, "Father forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." He forgave the Roman soldiers. Why did Jesus do that? He did it in order to enter the position of God and eliminate Satan. Dont you think America is in the position of enemy to me? It incarcerated me although I didn't commit any sin. Yes, in that sense America is in the position of enemy to me. I came to America offering everything, sacrificing, and providing everything: my wealth, my power and almost everything for the sake of this nation. If I keep doing this, eventually the entire nation and the American people will recognize what I have done for the sake of their nation and their people; then they will all follow me. Again the universal principle is that those who love more than anybody else will become the central person working for the sake of others. Do you understand clearly? [Yes!] Thank you! In order to find Gods love, you should live for the sake of others. Then, what do you want to have today? You want to have Gods love. In order to do that, you should bring yourselves into the position of Gods sons and daughters. Wouldnt it be nice if the son and daughter were to become a couple? If you are truly determined and united and are willing to offer more love to God, then God will offer love to you. When a couple lives for the sake of each other more than living for the sake of God, God will instantly come down to their position and become one with the couple. Is this the correct answer or the wrong answer? [Correct answer] That is the way we can conquer God. Those who do not want God to dwell within them show me your hands. (No-one raised their hands.) Then, anyone who desires this, show me your hands. (Everyone raised their hands.) This means you will take my advice tonight? [Yes!] If you truly do that you can register in the Kingdom of Heaven. You will be registered fairly in the Kingdom of Heaven. Then God will have me bless you and make you His sons and daughters. How would you like that? (Applause.) Do you want to participate in that and become a good couple? Well I am told that there are about 200 million people in the world being trained in various martial arts. If you bring all those 200 million people for this marriage blessing to Washington, D.C., we will have a big problem, because we have the capacity for only 3.6 million couples. Therefore, I am allocating for you only 1.2 million people. Can you do it or not? [No-one answers.] If you cant do it, then there is a big chasm between you and me. The problem is that you are not totally one with me yet. When will you be one with me? When? You cannot meet me in person any time you wish. I am in a higher position than you are in many different aspects. Why dont you promise me that you will receive the blessing? My most precious gift to you tonight is this advice: to come to the marriage blessing in Washington, D.C., this November. If you do not take my advice, when you come to the spiritual world you will all wail with regret: "If we had listened to Reverend Moon, we wouldnt be in this situation." Because I know that you will be in grief, I am giving this advice to you. Developing the Martial Arts Federation Well, it is getting late. So I am going to tell you my plan for the Martial Arts Federation for World Peace. Did you expect to find out about this Marital Arts Federation for World Peace? [Yes.] Do you want to sit still and have me support this Martial Arts Federation for World Peace? If nobody else comes with support I may turn my back on this. If I support the Martial Arts Federation for World Peace three times, what do you think you should offer? Some parents do not trust you and they do not send their children to you to be trained because you might abuse the students obedience for your financial purpose. I know that students follow your directions well. If you begin to tell your students to bring extra money for you to support yourself, this will cause a big problem and you will be kicked out from your town. You wont be able to do such things for your own financial support, but if any one wants your strength for money, you can be easily sold. This is because your financial situations are difficult. In a tough situation, even some martial arts experts can be bought and manipulated by rich people. Their power, strength, and skills can be abused and misused. There is no secret in the world, and once you get caught as a supporter of gangsters, you lose your life. Well, you grand masters are better off. However, first and second-degree black belts open schools and have a hard time, resulting in some problems. Although you have influence over these young people, you cannot be totally responsible for their lives, can you? Even the nation cannot be responsible. Only God can. I understand God clearly. That is why I am giving you this advice tonight. I am not here to make money from you. Even for this convention we spent about $1.5 million. What about you, has anybody offered even $1,000? Have you offer You cant take the responsibility, can you? So, I have a plan to solve these problems. When I went to South America I saw many young people in poor conditions. Some of them become gangsters and do all kinds of bad things. Some of them become thieves and robbers. In one state of Brazil, I am planing to help young people who do not have proper schooling or job skills. I am planning to do the same in 33 South American nations. That is why we are constructing buildings to accommodate them and give them proper training and education. In order to support the Martial Arts Federation for World Peace, I am planning to build a huge martial arts center in each continent. In those continental centers, students and teachers could be trained at the same time. Both students and teachers can pursue their academic studies as well as martial arts training. Teachers can be trained as martial arts specialists or grand masters on different levels. Some will qualify as elementary school martial arts grand master Although ninth-degree grand masters may build a training center, not anyone can build one. It will depend on their efforts and their skills. If they keep training hard they can keep going up the ladder and become college-level grand masters. This will be like a degree program. For example, if you reach the third-degree black belt level you will be qualified to teach elementary level children. With a sixth-degree black belt certificate you may teach middle and high school kids. A ninth-degree black belt may teach college students. You will be able to take care of your family financially because you will have a set income. With a B.A., M.A., or Ph.D. degree, you should be able to work with the local police and religious leaders. Religious leaders are in charge of people in a spiritual sense, and you can give a vision to people of the right way of life. In conclusion, make sure that you are united with the spirit of this convention, and make unity between your mind and body. I am absolutely sure that I can block evil and liberate God, something no one in the world can do. This is why I am instigating you to take up the task. You must know this. As long as you follow what I have taught tonight, the future of the Martial Arts Federation for World Peace will be prosperous. If you grand masters do not follow my suggestion tonight, then I will begin to mobilize the grand masters from Korea to support these efforts for the sake of the world. I have that kind of foundation. So, support me, become one with me, and lets become victorious. I like a victor. How about you? Dont you like to become victors? It is getting late. It is almost midnight. After finishing this gathering I will have to drive five or six hours to New York. My wife, Mrs. Moon, is giving a nationwide public speaking tour in Korea, so I have to go to New York to hear my wifes speech. Even if it is sad to say good-bye, I have to go. Good night. Respected leaders and scholars from all walks of life around the world, I am truly grateful that so many of you have taken time out from your busy schedules to gather here for the Second International Hoon Dok Seminar.

We see today that people in many fields of society are doing their best to prepare for the new millennium in various ways as they believe are necessary. In my opinion, though, a more sober and serious examination of human life today reveals that understanding the Will of God, who is our eternal True Parents, is the most urgent and most pressing task we face now, just a few months before the new millennium.

Over the past fifty years, I have had close to seven thousand occasions to communicate the Word of God in public settings, and this content has been published in a series of some three hundred volumes. These are being read by tens of thousands of people around the world every day.

From among this vast content, I would like to share with you today a sermon I delivered in New York on February 21, 1980 to world leaders who had gathered to celebrate my sixtieth birthday. It has been nearly twenty years since I delivered this sermon. I would like, though, to read and study this content together with you leaders from around the world as a way for us to enlighten ourselves on where our responsibilities lie in bringing about the new ideal world that God yearns to see on Earth.

What would you say is one thing that God and human beings have sought to possess throughout history, but still are not able to have? Is it monetary wealth? No, that is not it, because there is certainly more than enough money in the world. Is it people? The world is filled with people, too. Is it power? There is enough power as well. What is it, then? The correct answer is that God still does not have a country that belongs to Him. So today I would like to speak to you about God’s fatherland, that is, God’s ideal nation.

What is your country of citizenship? For most of you here, I think it is the United States. Thus, the United States is your fatherland. Where is my fatherland? It is Korea. Where is the fatherland of Mr. Kuboki here? It is Japan. What about Paul Werner over there? His fatherland is Germany. So there are people here with many different fatherlands.

Where, then, is God’s fatherland? Right now, God does not have a fatherland.

What is the origin of all the countries in the world today? Did they originate with God? If not, did they come from some place else? The historical origin of all these countries is the issue here. All the countries in the world today came about as a result of conflict and division. Take any two neighboring countries in the world, and you will see that in many cases the international boundary separating them has a history filled with grief and sorrow. We know all too well that, in most cases, the fiercest and bloodiest fighting has taken place between neighboring countries, as opposed to countries separated by some distance. Thus, the walls of division are highest between countries and peoples who share a common border.

It was not always true that wars were fought by sending planes to attack a country thousands of miles away. Historically, wars were most often fought along international boundaries shared by adjacent countries. For you as individuals, as well, conflicts tend to break out with those who are closest to you. The reason for this lies in the Human Fall. It is one result of the Human Fall that people today tend to fight the most with those who are closest to them.

What was the Fall? The Fall was the beginning of conflict between God and human beings, as well as between God and Satan and between human beings and Satan. The fact that there have been a great many countries in the world illustrates that there must have been a large number of conflicts.

Once a country is formed in this way, where does it go? All countries seek to establish a world of peace, but are they capable of achieving this? This is the common challenge that remains today for all people in the world. A world of peace is a resultant existence, so it would be a logical contradiction to think that such a world can be achieved on the basis of a mistaken beginning, that is to say, an erroneous cause.

The beginning point leading to an ideal world can be found only in a place where a movement is being conducted that is capable of overcoming and transcending the origin of wars. If the cause is perfect, then the result will also be perfect. It is reasonable to think that if the origin is in peace, development will occur through a peaceful process, and the objective finally achieved will also be one of peace.

Seen from this perspective, it is clear that people who continue to view their neighboring country as their historical enemy and treat that country with hatred will never achieve a world of peace. No matter how much they may yearn for an ideal world and move toward this objective, it will be impossible for them to actually accomplish this goal. In order to nullify the motivation that caused all this conflict and erase the history of evil, there needs to be a movement that teaches a content that is the opposite of what has been the origin of conflict.

If God exists, do you suppose that He will observe the background of these countries and just leave them as they are? Or else, do you think that God will guide these countries into a good direction, that is, toward the ideal path? I believe without a doubt that God will guide us. This is why in the Unification Church, members from countries that are historical enemies to each other will often want to receive the Holy Blessing as husband and wife.

If a person wants to inherit the Will of God, what do you think he should teach? Such a person certainly could never teach people of the world that they can do whatever they like. The key phrase for this person’s teaching would be, "Love you enemy with a heart of love." The Word of God that tells us, "Love your enemy" holds the power to reverse the history of evil. These words are like the anchor that can save a ship being blown off course by a hurricane.

In the course of the history of God’s restoration providence, no one has practiced the Word of God to "Love your enemy" at an absolute standard. If there exists a group of people who understand how to love their enemies, then these people should be brought together to form an organization, and they should build a worldwide foundation. Since this is our conclusion, we must expect that God will initiate such a movement. I hope you can understand that the various religious movements that have appeared in history have been reflections of such a movement initiated by God.

Who was the person until now that God could love the most? It was Jesus. Jesus presented a new direction to a world torn with conflict. Jesus’ philosophy was that the high wall standing between an oppressor nation such as Rome and an oppressed nation such as Israel should be torn down. The two should not see each other as enemies. Jesus’ thinking was, "Rome may try to overpower me with physical force, but I will instead conquer Rome with love." That is why even as he hung on the cross he prayed to bless his enemies.

Please understand that it was this philosophy that lay behind Jesus’ incredible declaration in reference to the Roman soldiers: "Father forgive them; for they know not what they do." Because he acted in this way, he established an archetype, or model, for the way in which nations can rise above a state where they see each other as enemies and international boundaries can be transcended.

Jesus understood that enemies of the individual were not the whole problem. He knew that in addition to these, there were enemies of the family, enemies of the tribe, enemies of the society, enemies of the nation, and enemies of the world, and that these were all around and intertwined in a complex relationship. This meant that anyone who chose to follow him – anyone who walked the same path as he walked – would find many enemies waiting for them along the way. If a person chose to go as a family they would come up against enemies of the family, and if he chose to go as a tribe he would come up against enemies of the tribe. He could expect to find himself in a fierce fight. So Jesus taught that each time a person found himself facing an enemy he should love the enemy. He said that as long as a person maintains this spirit of loving his enemies, he will eventually be victorious.

If God had acted in the same way as Satan or many people in the secular world – that is, to seek revenge against His enemies – then, this world would have perished a long time ago. That is why He has taught us, centering on Christianity, to love our enemies.

Where, then, is God’s starting point in this effort to realize His ideal country – that is, to liberate His fatherland? It is the person who has the philosophy to love one’s enemies. That is why, as long as it is true that God exists, it is only natural that Christianity should grow to become a worldwide religion. This is because Christianity has put forward a movement to break down international boundaries, and transcend all cultural and environmental barriers through love so that we may embrace even our enemies. If a person plants soybeans, we will harvest soybeans, and if he plants red beans, then it is red beans that he will harvest. The seeds of a red flower will produce a red blossom. In the same manner, if we sow the seeds of Satan, who seeks revenge against his enemies, we will find that a tree of evil will grow out of those seeds. On the other hand, if we plant a seed of goodness, which loves its enemies, then a tree of goodness that loves its enemies will grow there. This is the law of nature.

Why is Christianity today divided into numerous denominations? It is because people have impeded the Christian spirit that teaches us to love our enemies. The Christian spirit that teaches us to love our brethren has been forgotten. From a perspective centering on Jesus, the Presbyterian Church, the Methodist Church, the Holiness Church and all other denominations are brothers to each other.

True Christianity based on the mainline philosophy is a religious body that pioneers the formation of a spiritual climate in which people love their enemies. People who love their enemies are the people who will be able to bring about God’s true individuals, families, tribes, societies, nations and world. Yet, today’s Christianity cannot even dream of uniting as one body or of coming together with the many countries that exist today. It is distressing sight to this.

What is the role of the Unification Church, then? People in established churches criticize the Unification Church as heretical. This sounds simple, but you should understand that there is a continuity of history here. The pulse of history is beating here.

Does America have enemies, or not? If so, then who is America’s enemy? Is it Reverend Moon? Isn’t it true that the great majority of Americans think this way? Mothers and fathers of Unification Church members also say that Reverend Moon is their enemy. The enemy of the Communist Party is also Reverend Moon. The enemy of the business establishment is also Reverend Moon. The enemy of the religious establishment is Reverend Moon. The enemy of the mass media is also Reverend Moon. Isn’t that true? If you look at this way, is not Reverend Moon America’s enemy?

Since I make life difficult for those of you who are Unification Church members, am I not your enemy as well? Or else, do you say that even if your father and mother are opposed to Reverend Moon, and your spouse opposes Reverend Moon, you still cannot bring yourself to turn away from Rev. Moon? Is it your position that you cannot turn away from me even if the government opposes me? Is that your thinking? Is it your determination that even if you are eventually forced to turn away from America and turn away from your mother and father, you can never turn away from Reverend Moon?

Some religious people are praying to God with the mind that it would be better if I were to disappear. They are praying, "God, please take that enemy, Reverend Moon, into the spirit world quickly." On the other hand, Unification Church members are offering a different prayer, saying, "God, it doesn’t matter that I may be persecuted. Please let Reverend Moon live a long life on Earth."

God listens carefully, and He sees that one group is praying, "May he die," and the other group is praying, "Let him have a long life." At the same time, God sees that Unification Church members continue their witnessing work even when they are mistreated, and continue their economic work when they are cursed. With the other group, people from the President to cabinet members, generals and politicians are all saying, "May he die." Therefor, God’s ear, naturally, goes toward the Unification Church members, who are being mistreated. Because God is fair, he tends to listen more to what the Unification Church members are saying.

I was so amazed by all this that I took a look to see who is listed in the Book of Life. I found that all the people listed there are those who are tormented as lowborn and people who are chased from one place to another. Do you think that, since all Americans think of Rev. Moon as their enemy, he should be pitied? It may be true that many Americans hate me. You must understand, though, that when I am able to truly love those who see me as their enemy, a way will be opened for their hearts to be melted in a single day.

That is why I went before God, and prayed, "God, they throw rocks at me so that I may be able to form individuals, families, tribes, societies, and nations that possess the philosophy to love their enemies. So please let them be." When there is a nation in this world that is made up of people who have the spirit to love their enemies, that nation can become the ideal society that God longs to see. It will become the ideal society into which all humankind can enter. This was the reason that I, immediately following the Washington Monument rally, declared an intention to hold a rally in Moscow.

Where did I say is the starting point for God’s fatherland? How does it come? It comes by way of the path of loving our enemies. God’s fatherland comes by way of the path by which we establish a tradition of loving the enemies of the individual, enemies of the family, enemies of the tribe, and of the nation and world. I hope you can understand that God’s fatherland cannot be brought about by any path other than this.

Just wait and see. America has opposed me. The U.S. State Department has opposed me. The Congress has opposed me. Eventually, though, there will come a time when I will receive a certificate that says I was victorious in Congress, victorious in the State Department, and victorious in America. I have friends now, even in the State Department that has opposed me, and I have many friends in Congress as well. It is inevitable that victory will eventually come to me, due to my life of loving enemies.

I am convinced that even if I had no such friends I could still overcome all opposition and bring about victory. The more opposition I receive the more I am able to accumulate experiences of having loved my enemies. There is no reason, then, for me to be discouraged in the face of great opposition.

The law of nature is that if there is an area of low atmospheric pressure in one place then there is sure to be an area of high pressure somewhere else. If I form an area of low pressure when the State Department opposes me from a high place, then the State Department will eventually succumb to me in the same way that a high pressure area is naturally absorbed by a low pressure area.

Even when I was being cursed, I did not fight back but loved them instead. After a while, I found that they were becoming my friends. Then some time later, I found that I had the families of friends, the tribes of friends and the nations of my friends.

You are engaged in the work of family church. People in your family church area may try to keep you from coming back by hitting you in the head, knocking you down, and even kicking you angrily when you are down. If that doesn’t satisfy their hatred, they may roll you over, spit on you, and curse you. Even if someone treats you like that, try going back to that person and see what happens. When a person beats you up like that, they will assume that you will never return. If, however, you return even after being beaten, knocked down and kicked out, people watching this series of events will realize that Unification Church members truly practice the life loving enemies. This will move them to be contrite about their misdeeds, and become much closer to you as friends. They will have no choice but to praise you as an excellent member of the Unification Church.

In such a situation, some people will begin to take greater interest in you and look more closely at what you are trying to do. They will see that in reality you are not crazy, and that in fact you are wholesome, clean cut young people, and that you are well-educated. They will have to say to themselves, "Oh, I didn’t realize that the people of the Unification Church were like this," and little by little they will grow to like you. If you explain to them about God’s fatherland, and give them opportunities to hear the Divine Principle, they will say, "Oh, I never realized that the Unification Church had such profound teaching!" They will repent, and begin to follow you. You need to be able to teach people in this way.

When people who live by such convictions are beaten and kicked out, then the number of people on our side will soon increase to a hundred and then a thousand. You might be nearly beaten to death in a certain neighborhood and are kicked out. You return later and are beaten and kicked out again. Then the same thing might happen on the third visit. If you go to that neighborhood three times like this, that neighborhood will be completely restored.

I am a man with no remarkable characteristics. That is actually true, don’t you think so? You may say this is not true, but people in general society know me as an undignified person. God, though, likes me more than any other person. It does not matter that the world may treat me disgracefully. Because God recognizes me, I am able to launch offensives against the world with a bold attitude.

Once a person possesses a heart of loving his enemies, there is nothing he cannot say. Why is that? A man sent by God. If anyone deserves to be called handsome, he is that man. If anyone deserves to be thought of as fashionable, he is that man. If anyone deserves to be thought of as daring and brave, he is the one. It inspires a sense of honor in me to think of myself in this way, and so I can stage an offensive against the secular world with confidence.

Do you know what happens when I work in such a state of high inspiration? When I do this, young men and women who give joy to God are created. Families of all races who give joy to God are created. Nations that give joy to God are created, and the liberation of God’s fatherland becomes possible.

God told us to love our enemies, and that means we also have to love the ugliest person. Even if the most handsome man in the world is paired with the ugliest woman, he needs to love her even more than he loves his enemies. Such a person, in loving the enemies of this world, will be a good candidate to carry the flag of the greatest prince as he marches forward. If such a man actually exists, think how wonderful he would be. Such a man would easily be able to jump over the barriers between nations.

Some time ago in Britain, Mrs. Moon and I matched people to be engaged. For the most part, we paired up people from nations that were historical enemies. Since they could not understand each other’s language, they would communicate their love for each other by smiling. The sensation of holding hands was more powerful than spoken communication. They could not understand what each other was saying, but that made their kisses all the sweeter. Gradually, they learn about each other. They can learn about each other by sitting down to a meal together. They learn a little at breakfast, a little more at lunch, and still more during dinner. Eventually, they come to know everything.

When people come to live with a heart of love, all barriers will be broken down, the history of the restoration providence will be shortened, and the Kingdom of Heaven will draw near.

I have a simple philosophy. I have tried to experience everything that I can. I was a farmer, and I was a laborer. I have become a fisherman and caught tuna. This is how I have lived the last sixty years. I thought I was walking this way alone, but now I look behind me and see that British people are following me, Americans are following me, and many other people from around the world are following me. If I tell someone I hate them and kick them away, they still follow me. That is why I say a person can study the Unification Church and yet still not be able to understand it.

I will give my conclusion now. Today’s topic is God’s ideal nation, God’s fatherland. Members of the Unification Church need to work for the liberation of God’s fatherland. Today is my sixtieth birthday, and the number six is a number of indemnity. Thus, I hope you will look on this day as a time when you can begin to go beyond the number six, and move toward a new world of the number seven. There are people from all races in the congregation today, and all of you need to live your lives with such a philosophy. The liberation of the Fatherland will not be accomplished by seeking revenge. The Fatherland will be liberated only when nations do not fight other nations.

Where will you go to pass across the stage of your trials and reach the Fatherland? The family church is a miniature form of the whole world, so you need to go the way of family church. All the loneliness, difficulties, and suffering that you encounter as you carry out family church is the same loneliness, difficulty and suffering that I myself have experienced. Please understand that you are learning the process of victory by which I have overcome my enemies through love.

When you are victorious with family church in New York, you will transcend New York. Then, you will transcend the Midwest. You will easily cover all of America. Not only that, but you will cover the whole world, and the spiritual world. You will be able even to conquer the realm of God’s heart.

God will welcome the people who are victorious with family church, and tell such people, "You are the sons and daughters that I have longed to see." He will say that your family church is His dwelling, His country, and His world. He will tell you that since the family church has been established you should receive both your parents and live happily. All of you should become victors in the family church, liberate God’s fatherland, and greet the day when the constitution of the heavenly nation is proclaimed. We must establish a day of victory from which time forward we will never be conquered. It will be a day that will be commemorated forever.

Do you think it likely that God’s nation will be brought about through democracy? That would be impossible. There needs to be a birth of a new philosophical movement that can supplement democracy’s imperfections. This means we need to be active in every field of life, including religion, economics, politics, philosophy, scholarship and other areas. Please recognize that this is your destiny.

I believe the Earth should have no international boundaries. In a sense, America is my enemy. But I have put my life on the line in order to love America. I have done this for the sake of liberating the fatherland of God and all humanity.

Where is your enemy? Everything the physical body enjoys is your enemy.

The enemies outside of your body are not the problem. Instead, it is the enemies that are within you. Drugs are the enemy. Free sex is the enemy. Homosexuality is the enemy. Everything that is bad for you is your enemy. You must conquer these and overcome them. You must overcome these in order to liberate God, and liberate God’s fatherland, that is, a world of freedom and peace.

I hope you will be brave soldiers who will march tirelessly toward the liberation of God’s fatherland.

(CNN) -- Up to 30,000 people are expected to gather in Cheongpyeong, South Korea, on Saturday for the funeral of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the controversial founder of the Unification Church who died this month.

(CNN) -- Up to 30,000 people are expected to gather in Cheongpyeong, South Korea, on Saturday for the funeral of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the controversial founder of the Unification Church who died this month.

The ceremony, at the church-built Cheongshim Peace World Center, will take place after nearly two weeks of mourning. During this period, an estimated 180,000 people visited the mortuary where his body has been put on display to pay their respects, church official Ryu In-yong told CNN.

Prayers, singing, floral tributes and eulogies are expected as the remains of Moon arrive at the arena. After a two-hour ceremony, he will be laid to rest on Mount Cheonseong in the northern South Korean province of Gyeonggi -- known as the "holy land" of the church.

The 92-year-old died on September 3 after complications related to pneumonia. He had been in intensive care in a Seoul hospital since August after he fell ill, church spokesman Ahn Ho-yeol told CNN at the time.

Moon had been a high-profile international evangelist for decades, having said that Jesus Christ came to him in the 1930s and "told him to finish (Jesus') mission," according to James Beverley, a professor at the Tyndale University College and Seminary in Toronto.

The Unification Church believes that Jesus was divine but that he is not God, a stance that puts it outside the bounds of traditional Christianity. Followers regard Moon as the messiah.

His church officially started in the 1950s, with missionaries being dispatched around the world by the end of that decade. His was one of several religious movements that emerged after World War II and the Korean War in South Korea and Japan, drawing from "a tremendous pool of people ... looking for answers as to why the world had turned (against them)," said Virginia Commonwealth University professor David Bromley.

Moon was imprisoned in North Korea during the Korean War before being freed by the allies, an experience that turned him "virulently anti-communist," according to Eileen Barker, a professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Globally, the church's reach may have peaked in the 1970s and early 1980s, as hundreds of thousands joined the singular religious movement, Beverley said. Critics have said the controversial Moon led a cult, whose followers were colloquially known as Moonies.

In his role as church leader, Moon became famous for conducting mass weddings, including one in 1982 at New York City's Madison Square Garden and one in 1995 in South Korea uniting 360,000 couples.

He also gained influence in other ways as well -- growing a massive, diverse business empire that included holdings in industries such as chemicals, arms manufacturing, mining and pharmaceuticals.

Moon helped create news publications, universities, religious institutions and other groups. Some such organizations that Moon founded stress interfaith dialogue and peace, like the Universal Peace Federation, which advocates "building a world of peace in which everyone can live in freedom, harmony, cooperation and prosperity."
