URGENT HUMANITARIAN APPEAL — OPEN LETTER FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 6, 2025 | Seoul, Republic of Korea
To President Lee Jae-myung:
I congratulate you with today's festivities. On this Chuseok, a time to honor one’s ancestors and the deep roots of heritage, we appeal to the heart of Korea. I write not only as a fellow human being, but as a son of peace, a voice for mercy, and a witness to history. I appeal to your conscience, your compassion, and your leadership.
Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon—an 83-year-old widow, heart patient, and great-grandmother—is being held in Seoul Detention Center under conditions that defy the very essence of humanity. Her arrest, just one week after emergency heart surgery, has now spiraled into a grave humanitarian crisis.
Her lips turned blue from pain. Her body trembles. Her spirit, though mighty, is being crushed. This is not justice. This is cruelty.
Dr. Han is not merely a detainee. She is the beating heart of global peacebuilding. For over 70 years, she has:
Rebuilt Korea’s economy after war.
Founded schools, universities, and cultural institutions.
Delivered aid to more than 150 nations.
Advocated interfaith harmony at the UN, U.S. Capitol, and Kremlin.
Sponsored peace journalism and reconciliation in global conflict zones.
She is a mother to nations. A grandmother to movements. A healer of wounds. Her legacy is woven into the soul of Korea and the conscience of the world.
We plead with you:
π Release Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon immediately and unconditionally.
Restore Korea’s dignity. Embrace peace. Embrace the world.
Let mercy triumph. Let love lead. Let Korea rise as a beacon of compassion.
With deepest respect and unwavering hope,
Nicolae Cirpala President, Global Peace Building Network (GPBNet) Happy TV News | +79056333606
