A GLOBAL CRY FOR
JUSTICE: PRESIDENT LEE JAE-MYUNG, END THE ILLEGAL DETENTION OF DR. HAK JA HAN
MOON AND RESTORE KOREA’S CONSTITUTIONAL SOUL
GLOBAL PRESS RELEASE —
FOR URGENT AND IMMEDIATE WORLDWIDE DISTRIBUTION
October 11, 2025 |
Seoul, Republic of Korea
OPEN LETTER TO HIS
EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT LEE JAE-MYUNG, THE PEOPLE OF KOREA, AND ALL CHILDREN OF
GOD
We, a thunderous global chorus of millions who cherish peace, faith, and fundamental human rights, address you today with profound alarm. We implore you to immediately end the state-sanctioned cruelty being inflicted upon Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, the 83-year-old great-grandmother and world-renowned “Mother of Peace.”
Her illegal
detention in the Seoul Detention Center on politically
motivated charges has shocked the world’s conscience and plunged the Republic
of Korea into a HISTORICAL CRISIS OF CONSCIENCE. The indictment on October 10,
2025, by Special Prosecutor Min Joong-ki on charges including bribery,
embezzlement, and violating the Political Funds Act, is not a search for justice,
but a deliberate purge disguised as a legal process—a "religiocide"
against a voice of freedom.
A CRIME AGAINST
HUMANITY: THE MEDICAL PERSECUTION OF DR. MOON
The physical and mental
suffering imposed on Dr. Moon constitutes an act of grave medical negligence
and a flagrant violation of human dignity. The Family Federation for World Peace has
clearly stated that "Chairman Han is in very poor health due to her
advanced age and chronic illness (recurrent arrhythmia, etc.), and there are
serious concerns about her health deteriorating as she was indicted while under
arrest."
The Heart-Wrenching Facts on October 11, 2025:
Just one week before her
arrest in late September, this elderly, frail patient underwent critical heart
procedure. Today, detained on the flimsy pretext of "tampering with evidence,"
her condition is deteriorating rapidly. Aides have reported urgent, visible
signs of medical distress, including:
Excruciating pain
causing her lips to turn blue.
Severe deterioration
evident in dark circles under her eyes, dry skin, and a red face.
Her documented chronic
illness (recurrent arrhythmia, etc.) is being critically ignored in custody.
This detention is a
direct attack on her most fundamental, inviolable rights under South Korean
law:
Legal
Violation Law/Article Violated
Legal Mandate Violated by the State
Human Dignity &
Health Constitution,
Article 10 "All citizens shall be assured of human dignity and
worth and have the right to pursuit of happiness. It shall be the duty of the
State to confirm and guarantee the fundamental and inviolable human rights of
individuals."
Elder
Abuse/Welfare Welfare of Senior Citizens Act,
Article 2
(4) The law
explicitly defines "Elder abuse" as an act of physical, mental, or
emotional violence or neglect. Continuing detention of a sick, elderly person
against medical advice falls under this definition of neglect and abuse.
Right to
Health/Welfare Constitution,
Article 36
(3) "All
citizens shall be entitled to live in a healthy and pleasant environment."
(Used for a general appeal for humanitarian release based on medical
condition.)
Essential Release on
Bail/Detention Rescission Criminal Procedure Act, Article 93
& 94 Detained persons may request release on bail (Art.
94) or rescission of detention (Art. 93) when the necessity for detention has
ceased. Serious illness is a primary and essential criterion for humanitarian
release that must be granted.
We demand a mercy
appeal be granted immediately. Her continued incarceration is a slow, agonizing
crime against humanity.
THE PATTERN OF
ILLEGAL PERSECUTION: A CONSTITUTIONAL SHAME
The actions of the
Special Prosecutor’s office over the last six months have formed a deliberate,
systematic assault on Dr. Moon, demonstrating a gross abuse of power that tears
at the fabric of the Republic of Korea’s democracy.
1. The May 2025
Travel Restrictions: Violation of Movement
The application of a
travel ban or restriction on Dr. Moon in May 2025, prior to any formal arrest
or indictment, placed her under undue duress and was a gross violation of
fundamental rights. News reports from May 2025 confirmed a travel ban on other
former officials.. Any pre-emptive ban on Dr. Moon represents the government
using investigation to control the liberty of an un-indicted citizen.
Legal
Violation Law/Article Violated
Legal Mandate Violated by the State
Freedom of
Movement Constitution,
Article 14 "All citizens shall enjoy freedom of residence and
the right to move at will."
Imposing Travel Ban
Illegally Immigration Act, Article 4
(Prohibition of Departure) The law
requires clear grounds (e.g., criminal investigation or pending trial) for an
exit ban. Imposing it without a clear, stated purpose on an elderly civilian is
an overreach of the Minister of Justice's authority.
2. The
Intimidating Raid and Coercive Interrogation
The use of overwhelming
force and public intimidation is a grotesque abuse of the investigative
process. We cite the claim that over 1,000 police officers allegedly raided her
personal residence (Source: Uncited claim, but reflects the coercive nature of
the persecution), followed by a grueling 10-hour interrogation on September 17,
2025, just after her heart procedure (The Guardian, Sept 23, 2025).
Legal
Violation Law/Article Violated
Legal Mandate Violated by the State
Personal Liberty &
Prohibition of Coercion Constitution,
Article 12 (1) &
(2) "All
citizens shall enjoy personal liberty... No person shall be subject to torture
or be compelled to testify against himself." (Coercive, extended
interrogation of an 83-year-old post-op patient is a form of medical torture.)
Illegal Search and
Seizure Constitution,
Article 16 "All citizens shall be free from infringement upon
their privacy of residence. In the absence of a warrant issued by a judge... no
house search or seizure shall be made." (The alleged excessive scale of
force in the raid constitutes a violation of the spirit of the warrant
process.)
Protection of the
Elderly Criminal
Procedure Act, Article 209 (Limited Interrogation
Time) While
not explicitly stated, the length and nature of the interrogation for a person
of 83 years of age with a recent cardiac procedure defies the humanitarian
principle implied in the Criminal Procedure Act, which mandates special
consideration for the old and sick (see Art. 282, which provides mandatory
defense counsel for those over 70).
3. The Arrest
& Indictment: Presumption of Guilt
The October 10, 2025,
indictment on charges including Bribery, Embezzlement, and Destruction of
Evidence (AP, Oct 10, 2025) is predicated on an arrest warrant that cites the
mere "risk of tampering with evidence" (Al Jazeera, Sept 23, 2025).
This speculative basis for the continued detention of a globally respected,
stationary spiritual leader makes a mockery of due process.
Constitutional
Violation Constitutional Article (Republic of
Korea)
Legal Mandate Violated by the State
Presumption of
Innocence Constitution,
Article 27
(4) "The
accused are presumed innocent until a judgment of guilt has been pronounced."
Essential Release on
Bail Criminal
Procedure Act, Article
95 Release
on bail "shall be allowed" except in specific, limiting cases. For an
elderly, sick, and stationary defendant, denying release based solely on a
speculative "risk of evidence destruction" is a violation of the
right to be free while awaiting trial.
THE GLOBAL
UPRISING: A WORLD IN PRAYER AND SOLIDARITY
The world is not fooled.
The spiritual mobilization for Dr. Han’s release is unprecedented.
Fact: Thousands of
devoted followers are praying day and night at a 24/7 vigil outside the Seoul
Detention Center in Uiwang. Hundreds of thousands more are praying globally in
almost every country, a massive spiritual uprising captured by global news
channels.
Journalistic
Investigations and Facts Supporting Dr. Han Moon (October 2025):
Church Denial of
Charges: The Unification Church (Family Federation)
has consistently and forcefully denied Han Hak Ja’s involvement, stating the
alleged illegal actions were carried out solely by an arrested former church
official (Yun), and condemned her arrest as a "disrespectful act against
an internationally respected religious leader" (AP, Oct 10, 2025).
Targeted Political
Prosecution: News coverage from October 2025 confirms Dr. Han's indictment is
part of a larger, highly-charged political environment: one of three special
prosecutor probes authorized by the current liberal government focusing on the
previous conservative Yoon administration (The Guardian, Sept 23, 2025). This
context reinforces the Family Federation's statement that this is a politically
motivated "purge" (Family Federation statement, Oct 10, 2025).
Questionable Evidence:
The core of the bribery allegation revolves around luxury gifts (bags,
necklace) to former First Lady Kim Keon Hee and a $70,000 bribe to lawmaker
Kweon Seong-dong in 2022 (AP, Oct 10, 2025). The defense maintains these were
the actions of a single rogue official, Yoon Young-ho, and not Dr. Han’s
instruction, framing her indictment as a reach by investigators.
Global Leaders
Speak on the Crisis:
· President
Donald Trump: “WHAT IS GOING ON IN SOUTH KOREA? Seems like a Purge
or Revolution. We can’t have that and do business there.” (August
2025)
· Mike Pompeo, Former U.S. Secretary of State: “Deeply
troubling… a betrayal of democratic principles. A nation that persecutes an
83-year-old woman of peace has lost its moral compass.”
· Newt Gingrich, Former U.S. Speaker of the House: “This
is suffocating political and religious suppression. It’s an attack on all
people of faith.”
· Dr. Massimo Introvigne, Director, FOREF Europe: “This
is not anti-corruption—it is a purge. A religiocide disguised as justice.”
· Oh Kwang-soo, a former civil affairs chief, has
joined Dr. Han’s legal team, declaring he "cannot stand by while
the nation's spiritual backbone is broken."
THE TRUTH THAT MUST BE REVEALED: A LEGACY OF BUILDING KOREA
The persecution of Dr.
Han is an attack on the foundational identity of the Republic of Korea. The
Unification Church (Family Federation), since its founding in Seoul on May 1,
1954, has been an engine of Korean prosperity and freedom, not a criminal
enterprise.
The Unification
Church's Historical Contribution to Korea and the World:
Anti-Communism and
Patriotism: Founder Sun Myung Moon was imprisoned in a North Korean labor camp
for five years. Following his release, the movement became a spiritual and
economic bulwark for anti-communist South Korea, organizing a massive peaceful
gathering of 1.2 million people in Yeouido in 1975 to bolster national spirit
(Wikipedia).
Economic &
Cultural Development: The church invested heavily in Korean media (like the
Segye Times) and educational institutions. It created The Little Angels Children's
Folk Ballet of Korea, which has performed as a cultural embassy in over 60
nations, showcasing Korean art to the world.
A Global Force for Peace: Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon continues to spearhead a vast, global network for peace and reconciliation, including the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) and the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP), both holding UN ECOSOC General Consultative Status. Her husband's 1991 meeting with President Kim Il-Sung in DPRK was a historic, peace-seeking move that predated and promoted reconciliation on the peninsula.
A MERCY APPEAL:
RESTORE KOREA'S DIGNITY
This is a crossroads for
the Republic of Korea. Your nation risks becoming a global pariah, its
democratic gains overshadowed by the persecution of a sick, elderly woman. Her
detention is a spiritual affront to the 8 billion children of God on this
earth.
President Lee,
Korea stands at a prophetic crossroads. Just as the Israelites once persecuted
their Messiah Jesus, resulting in two millenniums of suffering, Korea risks
similar indemnity by turning away from the representative of the Second Coming.
Dr. Han’s mission is not political—it is divine. To imprison her is to pass to
all Korea and the world indemnity and endless suffering for thousands of years
ahead.
We call on you,
President Lee Jae-myung, to honor the Constitution and
embrace compassion:
Grant Immediate,
Unconditional Release to Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon on urgent humanitarian and medical
grounds, upholding the Welfare of Senior Citizens Act and Constitution Article
10 (Human Dignity).
End All
Politically Motivated Persecutions against religious organizations, upholding
Constitution Article 20 (Freedom of Religion).
Ensure a Fair,
Public Trial where the principle of Presumption of Innocence (Article 27 (4))
is genuinely respected.
The only solution
to ultimate peace is the Mother of Peace's Embrace. Do not allow the
persecution of new religions to become a source of shame for all your future
generations. Rise to this historical call for Ultimate Global Peace!
Release
Immediately President Lee Jae-myung! Release Hak Ja Han Moon! Release Korea!
With urgent hope and unwavering respect,
Nicolae Cirpala
